The new 2023 cantabrian brown bear observation season continue with novelties introduced in the past year, directed to improve the experience and enjoy more of our brown bear excursions.
The full day product includes two observation excursions, one in the morning and another one during the afternoon, with a total duration of 3-4 hours each one (around 8h in total), depending on the bear activity.
We always try to avoid overcrowded observation points, searching lonely areas for our excursions.
From this year we are going to leave our regular brown bear watching service in Somiedo Natural Park, main reason is that we are searching new areas, with more quiet watching spots. In estern Cantabrian Mountains in Fuentes Carrionas Natural Park, bear population increased a lot in the last years, there are good possibilities with wolves and other carnivores too, and is still a lonely place.
Spring: all days from May 1st to June 30th. We can observe the mating season and bears eating grass on the slopes.
Summer: all days from August 1st to September 30th. At this momment we can watch bears eating bilberries, nuts and other summer fruits.
